HNS golfers compete at Beemer
BEEMER - The HartingtonNewcastle golf team got the new season underway Monday at the West Point-Beemer Invitatiional.
Wayne won the meet with a 360, while West Point-Beemer fired a 382 to earn team runner-up honors.
Reece Morten led the local golf team with a 107 to finish in 27th place. Also competing for HNPS were: Dayton Sudbeck, 108, 32nd; Turner Dendinger, 115; Riley Sudbeck, 151.
“This was a hard day and yet, in some respects it was a good day. This was the first career high school meet for Turner, Dayton, and Riley. I don’t believe any of the kids have ever played Indian Trail Golf Course before. It can be a difficult course and the hard winds made it even more difficult. We know we need to make improvements in the short game and Beemer’s greens exposed that even further. Their greens can be very difficult,” Coach Ken Kneffi said. “Still the kids did some good things. The experience they gained was invaluable. I know Coach Johnson and myself look forward to making the strides we know this team can make.
