Hartington Pony team moves to 4-0
HARTINGTON — The Quad County Hartington Ponies moved to 4-0 this season with two impressive performances.
The Ponies followed up a 21-9 win at Bloomfield with a 9-0 shutout of visiting Wausa/ Osmond over the course of last week.
“The kids are playing well as a team,” Ponies coach Don Whitmire said. “We played some younger developing teams this week. I was impressed with our pitchers throwing strikes. We were able to get some younger kids a lot of time which will help tremendously as the season progresses.”
Hartington scored nine times in the top of the first inning to essentially put away Bloomfield early and got a one hit, three walk, four run and five RBI performance from Ayden Rosener. Jared Rutar knocked in four teammates, Quinn Hochstein drove in three runs and Booker Hochstein added two RBI himself.
All told, the Ponies had 10 hits and were walked 14 times.
Cole Rosener pitched a three-inning, no-hit shutout with six strikeouts to beat Wausa/Osmond.
Cole Bensen had three RBI and Ayden Rosener added two more runs knocked in.
The Ponies were set to play Atkinson Tuesday.
