Free planetarium shows Oct. 6-7 during WSC Homecoming

WAYNE – The public is invited to free planetarium shows during Wayne State College’s homecoming festivities Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6-7, in the Fred G. Dale Planetarium. Three shows are available each day.

The schedule for Friday, Oct. 6 is 1:30 p.m., “Eclipse Across America;” 7 p.m., “Eclipses and Phases of the Moon;” and 8 p.m., the laser show “Laser Country.”

The schedule for Saturday, Oct. 7 is 2 p.m., “Earth, Moon, and Sun;” 3 p.m., “Eclipses and Phases of the Moon;” and 4 p.m., “Eclipse Across America.”

The planetarium is located on the lowest level of Wayne State’s Carhart Science Building. Guests should use the southwest doors to enter. Once inside, go to the stairs at the south end of the building and go down to the lowest level. You may also take the elevator. Carhart Science and the planetarium are handicap accessible.

Doors open 20 minutes prior to the start of a show and shows generally include a tour of the current night sky, a view of the constellations, and a full dome video.

All shows last about 45 minutes. Those wanting to book a private planetarium show should visit contact the planetarium and complete the online reservation form.
