Festival of Trees added to Belden’s community celebration
BELDEN — Small-town Belden is making plans to be a big-holiday destination with a multitude of events planned to celebrate the season.
Here’s a look at some of the town’s upcoming events: - A large Christmas tree will be on display on Belden’s Main Street.
- A Festival of Trees will be displayed in the Belden Fire Hall from Dec. 2-18, open for viewing every weekend in December or by appointment. Times are generally 5-8 p.m. on Fridays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17; and 1-5 p.m., Sundays, Dec. 4, 11 and 18.
- A Touch of Brass will be giving a Christmas concert at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Presbyterian Church.
- Santa will be making his annual appearance at the Belden Fire Hall, 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10.
- A Christmas Carol Songfest, hosted by the staff from Camp Assurance, is set for 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 11.
- The second annual Christmas Nativity Show will be at the Presbyterian Church basement, open during the same times as the Festival of Trees or by appointment. More than 800 nativities will be on display along with other art and Christmas items. This year’s show will feature a Caravansary and Bethlehem village with more than 500 pieces.
- Residents are encouraged to participate in a lights decorating contest with winners announced Dec. 18.
Freewill donations will be accepted at all events with proceeds to go toward upgrading the Belden Swimming pool which will be 100 years old next year.
