Ernest Eugene Jueden
HARTINGTON — Ernest Eugene Jueden, 91, Hartington, died March 20, 2022, at the Arbor Care Center, Hartington.
Mass of Christian Burial was March 24 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating.
Burial was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.
Pallbearers were Mark Koch, Karl Koch, Mike Jueden, Danny Wiedenfeld, Dan Kollars and Reggie Jueden.
Visitation and a Vigil service were Wednesday at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Visitation continued Thursday, at church, one hour prior to services.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home.
Ernest Eugene was born Sept. 24, 1930, in Hartington, to John L. and Alma (Steele) Jueden. He grew up in rural Hartington and attended Hartington High School until he began helping his father on the farm. Ernie married Joan Allene Hirschman Oct. 10, 1951, in Hartington. He and Joan raised pigs and had a dairy herd of Black Angus stock cows. Ernie also worked for Joe Peitz as a service technician, along with working for Gerry Miller Implement as a salesman. Ernest decided he wanted to go back to the farming life full time and milked until he retired.
Ernest was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Moose Lodge in Yankton, S.D. He enjoyed playing cards with his neighbors and friends, but especially loved going to dances with his wife of 70 years, Joan. They enjoyed going to the local county fairs and to the surrounding state fairs through the years.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Joan, Hartington; three children and spouses, Butch (Rhelda) Jueden, Maskell; Ron (Sheila) Jueden, Hartington; Kathy (Dave) Bohlken, Hartington; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Jackie) Jueden, Merlin, Ore.; two sisters, Connie Driscoll, Reno, Nev., and Carol (Don) Phillips, Ashland, Ore.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alma Jueden; grandson, Heath Jueden; brother, Jack Jueden; and a sister, Vivian Kathol.
