Eleanor M. Bergman
HARTINGTON — Eleanor M. Bergman, 97, Hartington, died, April 22, 2018, at Matney’s Colonial Manor, South Sioux City.
Visitation with a Vigil Service were Tuesday at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Visitation will continue Wednesday one hour prior to services.
Mass of Christian Burial will be April 25, at 10:30 a.m,. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating.
Burial will be at the St. Michael’s Cemetery in Hartington
Pallbearers will be Scott Robbins, Kole Ligouri, Jake Bergman, Ben Bergman, Jimmy Guenther and Dennis Schumacher.
Eleanor Mary Bergman was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Crofton, to Jake H. and Regina (McNally) Guenther. She grew up in Crofton and moved to Wynot in 1937. Eleanor married Dale J. Bergman Feb. 4, 1948, in St. James. She and Dale lived in Hartington for two years until moving to Shell Lake, Wis., for 15 years. Eleanor and Dale moved back to Hartington in 1965. Dale died on March 22, 2011, at the age of 86 years. Eleanor spent a couple years at Park View Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge, prior to moving to Matney’s Colonial Manor, South Sioux City, Feb. 3, 2014.
Eleanor was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, and a member of its Perpetual Adoration for many years. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Hartington VFW Auxiliary Post #5283.
Eleanor is survived by her two sons Tom and wife, Dee Bergman, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Doug and wife, Colleen Bergman, Eau Clair, Wis.; three daughters, Janet and Bruce Dunning, West Covina, Calif.; Marilyn Robbins, Dewitt; and Teri and Chuck Magdanz, Dakota City; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Guenther, Yankton, S.D.; and two sisters, Dorothy Murray, Hartington, and Alice Schumacher, Norfolk.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; son, Joe Bergman; daughter, Louise Patterson; brothers, Armond, Harold, Marvin and Jim Guenther; sister, Verna (Alphons) Pinkelman; daughter-in-law, Diane Bergman; and one infant granddaughter, Melissa Robbins.
