Educator arrested for alleged enticement of a minor
SIOUX CITY, IOWA - A Wynot Public Schools teacher faces charges for allegedly soliciting an underage girl for sex.
Andrew Heller, 38, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, was arrested last week and faces charges of prostitution and enticing a minor under 16 for sexual purpose. The charges stem from an investigation by the Sioux City police and FBI in which communications were monitored between Heller and a 14-year-old in which Heller allegedly asked the girl for sex and offered to pay $200.
When arrested, law enforcement found alcohol, a box of condoms and more than $200 in cash, according to court documents.
Heller is a Social Studies teacher at Wynot and also coached volleyball, and track and field. He was hired in 2019.
“We have recently learned of criminal allegations involving a school district employee,” said Wynot Superintendent Paul Hans last week. “The district is responding promptly and appropriately. Due to the nature of personnel matters, we cannot provide any further details or comments.”
Heller posted $5,000 surety bond Monday and is set to appear in court for his next hearing on the matter on Monday, July 25.
Heller previously taught and coached at Walthill.
