Doloth “Dolie” Pearson
MARTINSBURG — Doloth “Dolie” Pearson, 94, Martinsburg,died Aug. 21, 2018, at her home with her family by her side. Visitation and a prayer service were Aug. 26 at the church. Funeral services were Aug. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Martinsburg. Burial was in Silver Ridge Cemetery, rural Ponca. Arrangements were under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home, Ponca. Dolie was born Feb. 29, 1924, at Newcastle, to Herbert and Martha (Breisch) Miille. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Newcastle, and later joined Trinity Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, where she was a member of the Ladies Aide. She attended Newcastle Public School and graduated in 1943. She worked at Breisch’s Store and the Newcastle Locker after graduation. She married Lyle Guy Nov. 12, 1944. Lyle died in 1954. She married Willis Pearson Aug. 23, 1955. They farmed and lived in the Silvercreek Township until their retirement. They moved to rural Martinsburg in 1984. Doloth worked beside Willis while farming. She enjoyed driving and working on the tractors. They milked cows until 1978 and then started a stock cow herd. Willis died in 2002. Dolie loved reading and sewing. She made baby quilts for all her great-grandchildren. She always had a big garden and canned most of her produce. She loved to put the coffee pot on and visit with neighbors. She made many mittens for the grandkids and whoever could use them. Survivors include her five children, Jim (Kathy) Pearson, Ponca; Joy (Ken) Marks, Allen; Julie (Keith) Boeckenhauer, Wakefield; Jeri Ann (John) Lowe, Newcastle; and Jolene Pearson, Allen; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special cat, Putt. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lyle, 1954, and Willis, 2002; and a brother and sister-in-law, Billie (Louise) Miille. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
