County proceeds with foreclosure in Randolph
HARTINGTON - Cedar County can move forward with foreclosing on a Randolph property after a judge ruled to lift a bankruptcy stay in Cedar County District Court last week.
The judgement was made against Paul and Kelly Rosberg regarding the three adjoining spaces which formerly housed Nebraska’s Finest Meats in downtown Randolph.
The county started foreclosure proceedings in 2020 but were thwarted by Rosberg’s claim that the property was involved in bankruptcy proceedings.
Recently, County Treasurer Jean Wiebelhaus researched and found the property to no longer be held in bankruptcy. Cedar County then filed a motion to lift the bankruptcy stay which was heard last week.
Wiebelhaus said the county holds the tax certificate due to delinquent taxes from the last five years. As of May 1, those taxes amount to $5,600, she said.
