Cedar wrestlers ink several new records
HARTINGTON - This year’s Cedar Catholic wrestling team has been chasing the record books, and some new marks have been set.
Last week, Cedar Catholic set a school record for most team points in a tournament, and it took the team just one week to push that benchmark higher.
At the Plainview Invite on Saturday, the Trocats team finished in fourth with 124.5 points. The record from the previous week was 108 points.
It was not the only Cedar record set in Plainview.
Eric Hoesing etched his name into the record book while also earning some family bragging rights.
In his first match of the day, Hoesing pinned his opponent in a mere seven seconds.
The feat set a record for quickest pin, breaking his older brother Patrick’s record of eight seconds.
With Cedar Catholic heading to the Mid State Conference Tournament on Thursday, there is still time in the season for more records to fall.
One record in jeopardy would be Turner Korth’s record of most wins in a season with 37. He set that record last year and currently has 31.
Ethan Koch is also closing in on passing Sam Wortmann for most All-Time wins. Koch has 81 wins right now, and Wortmann’s record is 89. Koch passed Tyler Loberg for second place on the All-Time list on Saturday with his win in the championship match over Brandon Bloomquist.
