Cedar girls test out defense against Crofton

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — The HNS boys earned their first win of the season on Saturday night when St. Mary’s came to town. The Wildcats won 59-41, after Cole Schmidt had a hot offensive start with 14 points in the fi rst half, things seemed to open up for everyone.

“Cole can handle the ball,” said head coach Nick Haselhorst. “We want him to dominate the ball and to be smart with his decision making and ability to read the floor. We want him to get us into our offense and we want him to make the next best decision for us.” Schmidt started off hot, and the confidence saw the rest follow suit. In the second half, Shaye Morten had the hot hand, and he slowly climbed the scoreboard to tie Schmidt with the team high 17 points.

HNS seemed to have the game in hand through most of the game, but the score didn’t always indicate that, with St. Mary’s being able to stay within ten or so points for most of the contest.
