Cedar and BRLD start the season with a battle between two rated C2 teams
BANCROFT - The Cedar Catholic Trojans travel to face Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur on Friday night in a Preseason Top 10 matchup.
In the Omaha World Herald and the Lincoln Journal Star, Cedar is ranked fifth, and BRLD is ranked ninth. Huskerland Prep ranks Cedar Catholic at eighth heading into the preseason, with BRLD sitting in ninth.
Huskerland Prep also ranks this game as the 19th out of the publication’s 30 must see games of the year.
The Wolverines finished just 4-5 last year, but the team returns nine starters on each side of the ball. That experience is expected to pay off by many looking on, with BRLD returning a junior all-district quarterback in Will Gatzemeyer, along with two running backs in junior Kobey Lyons and senior Bradley Marr. Gatzemeyer also returns some of his receiving targets, with sophomore Lucas Vogt expected to play a bigger role after catching seven passes for 155 yards and a touchdown as a freshman.
