HARTINGTON — Bradley L. Kusel, 79, Hartington, died Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Norfolk Veterans Home, Norfolk. Visitation and a prayer service were April 26 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Memorial Services were April 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Amanda Talley officiating. Burial of his cremated remains was in Lawn Ridge Cemetery, Coleridge, with military rites by the Hartington VFW Post #5283 and the Hartington American Legion Post #4. Bradley Louis Kusel was born Aug. 1, 1938, in Bloomfield, to Louis and Clara (Brummer) Kusel. He grew up in Bloomfield. He served in the U.S. Airforce from Sept. 12, 1955, until March 2, 1959, where he worked as a plane mechanic and welder, serving in France. After his discharge, Brad managed the Fireside Lounge, Norfolk. He also farmed and milked cows. Brad married Nancy Lee (Dirks) Hines April 8, 1983. They moved into Hartington in 1990, because of Brad’s health condition. In Brad’s later years, he worked for HTI and worked for Larry Domina hauling grain and doing field work. He also milked for Orville and John Steffen. Brad had been a resident of the Norfolk Veterans Home since June 29, 2016. Brad belonged to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington, and was a member of the Hartington American Legion Post #4. Brad loved to visit and was a jokester. You could frequently see him walking his dog around town. Brad is survived by his wife, Nancy, Hartington; three children Brad Kusel Jr., Scottsbluff; Jarae Kusel and husband, Mike Szydlowskie, Summerville, S.C.; and Craig Kusel, Santa Clara, Calif.; four grandchildren Megan Ward, Rachel Smith, Elijah Kusel and Harrison Kusel; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Aber, Rose Aber and Brody Ward; step children, Paul and Marlys Hines, Hartington, and John and Linda Hines, Pamona, Calif.; step grandchildren, Tessa (Bryce) Grutsch, Hartington; Zachary (Kara) Lippert, Hartington; Adam (Cynthia) Hines, Mitchell, S.D.; Tirsha (Mike) Batman-Altes, Coffeyville, Kan.; Joshua (Gina) Hines, Anaheim Hills, Calif.; Trenton Hines, Coffeeville, Kan.; eight step great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Jean Buschelman, Omaha; brother, Hank (Ruth) Kusel, Riverton, Wyo.; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Kusel, Hartington. Brad was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Larry Kusel; and brother-in-law, Richard Buschelman.
