Benton is new full-time reporter
RANDOLPH — A name that has been popping up from time to time in the Randolph Times pages should soon become a very familiar sight.
As of Monday, Trisha Benton joined the Randolph Times and Northeast Nebraska News Company as a full-time reporter.
The Norfolk native had been contributing news and feature stories to the News and other Northeast Nebraska News Company newspapers on a part-time basis since last December.
Benton, who now lives in Randolph with her husband, Ben, and their two children, previously worked as the public relations director at a Norfolk nursing home. The couple also has an adult daughter who lives in Rogers, Ark.
Benton comes to the Times with a great deal of newspaper experience.
She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a degree in journalism. She then worked for 10 years as a reporter for the Norfolk Daily News. Other writing experience includes five years for a Norfolk non-profit as a grant writer and project manager.
“I appreciate the warm welcome I’ve received and I’m looking forward to telling the community’s story,” she said.
Times Co-Publisher Rob Dump said he is excited to have Benton as part of the news gathering team.
“In the short time Trisha did some freelancing for us, we heard quite a few positive comments about her writing and reporting skills. She will be a real asset to the newspaper,” Dump said.
