LINCOLN - Marcus Hans fought for freedom as a soldier in the U.S.

Army, serving this nation in its effort to liberate France during World War II. More than 60 years later, France remembered him. Recognized among his comrades, Hans, Wynot, was honored for his service in France during World War II at a ceremony, June 6 the 60th anniversary of D-Day.

Gerry Miller, Hartington, was inducted into the Nebraska Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame at ceremonies June 11-13.

HARTINGTON — Brian Michael McTaggart, 17, son of Bill and Janelle McTaggart of Hartington, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, of injuries suffered in a construction accident southwest of Crofton.

HARTINGTON — Over 200 bikers pedaled into Hartington last Friday morning. Cedar County was included in Tour de Nebraska as part of a fiveday bicycle adventure which covered close to 320 miles. The bikers had spent the night in Bloomfield and were headed to Ponca. Hartington was one of the rest stops along the way.

HARTINGTON — Property owned by the city of Hartington was damaged in last week’s storm. A large tree fell on a building that sits on land that adjoins the east city park. The building is currently being rented to Randy Kathol.
