HARTINGTON — The Cedar County Fair has received $500 from the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben to make improvements to the fairgrounds.
President F. J. Peitz said the Ak-Sar-Ben grant and Cedar County’s match will be used to construct additonal seats in the grandstand area at the fairgrounds.
June 26, 1958 HARTINGTON — A hearing to determine the validity of petitions calling for the merger of four schools with the Belden district will be heard June 27.
The petitions seek to merge Districts 37, 40, 91, and 111 with Belden. Other ones call for changing the boundaries of Districts 40 and 34.

Clem Wiechelman, Hartington, graduated with honors and received a bachelor of administration in accounting from Loyola University in Los Angeles, Calif.

HARTINGTON — Mr. and Mrs.
Jerry Volkert left Friday morning for Greeley, Colo. where he attends summer school.
Jerry has accepted a position as the industrial arts instructor in Reinbeck, Iowa.
He was both the basketball coach and the shop instruction at Hartington Public for the past three years.
