1918: Hartington shows strong support for War effort

Nearly all of Cedar County came to Hartington today to honor our soldier boys and it is admitted by all that the crowd was the largest in the history of this city. The occasion was the raising of three new flags — Old Glory, the County Service flag, containing 351 stars, representing the number of boys that are at the front or in training to go there, and the county honor flag. The Honor flag indicates to all the world that Cedar County “went over the top,” in subscribing for Liberty Bonds.
